You are the Funeral Director

We are here to assist you.

We can advise you on your options and help you discern the best option to meet the needs and desires of the person who has taken their last breath and those most affected by it.

We can provide hands on help to fill any gaps in what you have available. We will always look for, and suggest, ways your close family, friends or community can be involved too.

We are here to support you to, if necessary, take someone home after their last breath, keep them at home with you and take them from home to their burial or cremation.

Our not-for-profit assistance is provided by the charity Pushing Up The Daisies.

Advice and Guidance

At the moment when someone takes their last breath people will react differently .... some will get busy and others will get quiet. People may have very different views about what to do next. Our main advice is PAUSE, TAKE YOUR TIME, THERE IS NO RUSH.

There are many options and many decisions to make. We can guide you in-person, online or by telephone.

Body Care

People can find it healing, intimate, sacred or vital to tend a loved one after their last breath. Others find it difficult or not possible. It is a personal choice. We can advise on body care in advance or be alongside you as you tend your loved one.

For people who choose to rest at home after their last breath we can give full assistance to support your family or friends to meet your wishes.

Transport

We can assist you to take someone home if they took their last breath outside home. We can also assist you to take them to their burial or cremation.

We can use our vehicle or support you in your vehicle if it is suitable.

Coffins and Shrouds

It is possible to buy many kinds of coffins and shrouds online. We can help you to choose the best option for your situation.

It is often not necessary to use a coffin or shroud for a natural or home burial. We can advise on wrapping someone in a sheet or blanket. It is usually helpful to have a rigid base for transport. This can be anything from an old door to a beautiful willow stretcher.

Burial and Cremation

We do not arrange public funerals on your behalf. However, we can advise you on your options and the practicalities of arranging a burial or cremation and funeral yourself, including home burial. We can be alongside to support you and assist with practical help needed eg provide coffin bearers at a burial or provide transport.
